REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING TEMPORARY VISA FOR STUDENT (VITEM IV)

This visa will be granted to a foreigner that travels to Brazil as a student, due to cultural agreement or not, and due to scholarship from educational institutions in Brazil, including religious institutions, and students of master and doctorate degrees.

The conditions for obtaining the visa are the following:

1) Valid passport for a minimum of six months;

2) Two passport photographs 5x5cm or 5x7cm, in color or black and white. Vending machines and tinted photographs are not acceptable;

3) Two visa application forms, duly filled out and signed by the applicant;

4) Good conduct certificate or certificate of no criminal records, issued within the last three months by the local police department or another legal authority where the applicant resides;

5) Proof of means of subsistence in Brazil for the duration of the visa;

6) Proof of enrollment in the Brazilian institution;

7) Payment of consular fees: ¥6,000;

8) Proof of residence; and

9) For minors of less than 18 years of age, a letter must be presented, signed by both parents, or legal guardian (with official proof), duly notarized, giving permission for the minor to travel and study in Brazil.

The visa can be issued for a first period of one year, but it can be extended upon request in Brazil, at least 30 days prior to its expiration.
